We are a group of university students who are going on a exchange trip to study at Universidad de Cádiz.
We would like to have a touristic guide which could help us with our travelling as well as with a visit around the surroundings, specially during our first days there.
We need information about: travelling fares, transfers, accommodation, places to visit, food and drink, local feasts…
-Arrival date: February 23rd
-Departing date: July 29th
We need a budget in advance, so that we can ask our hosting head officers.

Good afternoon, Luka. My name is Yolanda Espinazo and I will give you some information and details for your upcoming trip.
ResponderEliminarFirst of all, if you all come from Poland the best option is to book a flight to Jerez and then take the train to Cádiz. Depending on the season, the travelling fare for the airplane will be cheaper or more expensive. February is a low season month so you could find some chaep flights. As for the train, if you book it before the trip, it'll cost around 4,55€ (be careful! you have to exchange the money because we use euros). Once you are in Cádiz you can take the urban bus which costs 1,10€ and depending on the area you want to visit you will have to choose one or another.
About the accomodation, the city has lots of hotels, hostels, and more types of accomodation that you can enjoy. Some of them are El Parador, Hotel Playa Victoria, Hotel Atlántico... It also has lots and lots of touristic resources you can visit such as the cathedral, the Iberian-American house, the market, the beaches (La Caleta, Victoria, Santa Maria and Cortadura), Las Flores square, Falla theater, some churches, etc...
The most typical food here is the fried fish (pescaíto frito) which can be tasted in some places as Las Flores square, Pópulo Neighborhood... But if you want to try more typical dishes you can visit the market as well, is very lively and beautiful.
In Cádiz we also have some fests, by the time you're here, Carnival is celebrated, which is the most famous event here. Also, in March-April, Holy Week is celebrated. Finally, if you need a tour guide there are some professional guudes here like Cadizfornia, who offer a big variety of tours. The budget could oscilate between 100-150 € / person.

ResponderEliminarThe cheapest way from Poland is through eDreams, departing from Warsaw and arriving in Seville, it costs 297€ and it is the cheapest. When you arrive in Seville you can take a bus to Cadiz, it costs 10€ or you can take the train which is more expensive.
The most comfortable way to stay in Cadiz is to rent a student flat, which usually costs around 230€ per month, plus around 40€ for electricity and water.
In Cadiz there are many places to visit, there are many resources such as the Cathedral, the Gran Teatro Falla, the Town Hall, some squares like Plaza San Antonio, Plaza Mina, Plaza España, or parks like the Alameda or the Genovés park, they are very nice places, some have sea views and you can see beautiful landscapes.
The gastronomy of Cádiz is very important because they eat a lot of fried fish, which is typical of this part of the country, and they cook all kinds of fish, as well as some very characteristic sweets.
You cannot miss the wine, it is a typical drink made with the juice of the grape, there are many types and it is a very demanded drink in Cádiz as well as in Spain and in many parts of the world.
Finally I am going to tell you about the most important festivities, in February the carnival is celebrated, it is a party where people dress up in costumes and go out in the streets to sing songs with a humorous theme. Another very important festival is the Semana Santa (Holy Week), where people go out dressed up with tunics and hoods on their heads, it is a very old festival, but it is not the kukus-klan, it is a harmless festival.

Good morning Luka, my name is marina and I am going to explain a few things to make your trip to Cadiz easier.
ResponderEliminarFirst of all, the best way to get here is by plane from Poland to Seville. The cheapest airline is Ryanair. Once you arrive in Seville you can use the medium distance train or bus to get to Cadiz, the ticket will cost you about 10-15€.
Another option would be to come in a shared car, which will cost about €5.
In Cadiz there is a wide range of accommodation, from hotels, hostels, pensions, tourist homes, rented flats... You can choose the one you like best according to your budget.
The most typical things in Cádiz are the "pescaito frito" (a type of food), the carnival which is celebrated in June this year and its beaches. You can find 4 different beaches in the city. You can also visit many resources such as the Cathedral, the museum, the tavira tower...
On the date you will be here, Easter will also be celebrated, which is very famous here and many people from other places come to the city.
Finally, I recommend you to visit other places in the province of Cadiz that you cannot miss, such as Jerez de la Frontera (famous for its wines), Conil de la Frontera (famous for its beaches),Sanlucar de Barrameda o “los pueblos balncos”.
